? 25 June 2009 ? 31 January 2010 ? Exhibition « Leonardo da Vinci and France »
A treasure. It is indeed a precious treasure that the
Château du Clos Lucé in Amboise is exhibiting
from 25 June 2009 to 31 January 2010 in honour
of its most illustrious resident, Leonardo da Vinci,
who lived there for the last three years of his life.
The exhibition presents the result of the studies,
work and research that da Vinci carried out during
his Milanese period from 1507 to 1513 and his
French period, 1516 to 1519. The special
connection that da Vinci had with France,
supported by three kings, Charles VIII, Louis XII
(who appointed him "engineer and architect to the
king") and Francis I, was one of the reasons that
the Renaissance period came to the Loire Valley. Leonardo da Vinci, Girls dancing

Five centuries later, da Vinci's last drawings have returned to the
place where they were originally produced between 1516 and 1519.
For the first time, the originals of Study of flowers, Study of a horse and
two figures and the famous Girls dancing will be on show. On special
loan from the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, these originals
make up one of the key pieces of this series of da Vinci's last
drawings, which also includes The Pointing Lady and the famous Deluge
series, on which an animated film narrated by Anjelica Huston is
based.
